Please be advised, this is the wording in our School Student Handbook Snack/Birthday Celebrations (Elementary schools only) Nutrition is one of the most significant factors in the development of a healthy child. To go along with our healthy food nutrition policy, we encourage children to bring in healthy snacks for snack time and for celebrations. Some suggestions are: · fruit · whole grain crackers, bread, or bagels · cheese slices or cubes · rice cakes · fresh cut-up vegetables (celery, carrot sticks, pepper slices, etc.) · juice boxes of 100% juice · small portions of unsweetened cereals (Cheerios, Chex, etc.) · popcorn, pretzels, tortilla chips Please contact your child’s school prior to bringing in food or candy to share with the class, and please note that we are a peanut and allergy aware school district. We do request that all items that are brought into school by families be store bought and in original packaging. This allows the health office to identify any food allergens/ingredients to ensure safety for those student identified with any allergies.

Dear North Windham School Families, On Tuesday, February 1, 2022, North Windham School is kicking off an at Home reading initiative called Ready - Set - Read. We are encouraging all children to read at home every night either independently or with an adult. The role of the adult is to be able to see their child while they are independently reading or to be reading with them and then sign the reading log each night. Research has shown that students who read at home become more successful readers throughout their lives. Students will need to turn in their reading logs to their classroom teachers each Monday morning. Students will be offered prizes for categories like class per grade with the most minutes read, grade per school with the most minutes read, or most improved at home reader per class. Please be sure to help your child ensure that they are reading at home every night and getting their reading log signed. Sincerely, North Windham School

Dear parents, As you probably heard, Windham’s COVID data is very concerning. As a district, we currently have approximately 12% of our students in quarantine and isolation. As a safety prevention protocol, the district is eliminating all in-person gatherings starting tomorrow. In compliance with the district’s recommendations, we would not be hosting the Tuesday and Wednesday Meet-and- Greet event in person. I would still like to have an opportunity to meet with all of you so I am keeping the same dates/times for the meetings but instead of in-person, we are meeting via Zoom. I scheduled two meetings at 4:30 pm (one tomorrow Tuesday for grades K-2, and another on Wednesday for grades 3-5) and an additional meeting at 6 pm on Thursday for those parents that might have a schedule conflict or might prefer a later time (for all grades, K-5). These are the Zoom links for the meetings: Please note that there are two different Zoom links: one link is for the 4:30 pm meetings on Tuesday and Wednesday, and another different link is for the Thursday at 6 pm meeting. All meetings will be held via Zoom: Grades K-2: on Tuesday, December 14, at 4:30 pm Grades 3-5: on Wednesday, December 15, at 4:30 pm This is the link for the meetings on Tuesday and Wednesday at 4:30 pm: Join Zoom Meeting https://zoom.us/j/97540361312?pwd=Q003Szh5bGVhSndNVlAxODVLcGdiUT09 Meeting ID: 975 4036 1312 Passcode: 530825 One tap mobile +13126266799,,97540361312# US (Chicago) +19292056099,,97540361312# US (New York) Dial by your location +1 312 626 6799 US (Chicago) +1 929 205 6099 US (New York) +1 301 715 8592 US (Washington DC) +1 346 248 7799 US (Houston) +1 669 900 6833 US (San Jose) +1 253 215 8782 US (Tacoma) Meeting ID: 975 4036 1312 Find your local number: https://zoom.us/u/aeCZ1ZKJGW This is the link for the meeting on Thursday, December 16, at 6 pm (grades K-5): Join Zoom Meeting https://zoom.us/j/95971803390?pwd=cjRCNG9sWWo2b29Ba0hyUVBsazRtZz09 Meeting ID: 959 7180 3390 Passcode: 360120 One tap mobile +13017158592,,95971803390# US (Washington DC) +13126266799,,95971803390# US (Chicago) Dial by your location +1 301 715 8592 US (Washington DC) +1 312 626 6799 US (Chicago) +1 929 205 6099 US (New York) +1 253 215 8782 US (Tacoma) +1 346 248 7799 US (Houston) +1 669 900 6833 US (San Jose) Meeting ID: 959 7180 3390 Find your local number: https://zoom.us/u/acLlICRM41 Please contact our office if you have any questions or concerns. Great news parents, the Book fair will be open today from Thursday 1230pm until 7pm and Friday 12:30pm until 4:30pm- please stop in before or after your Childs conference. We do need to minimize the amount of people at the book fair at a time so please be patient if asked to wait so we can maintain a safe number in the cafeteria, In addition please remember if you purchase a book or books for teachers you will be entered to win either a Verizon wireless gift basket or a Walmart gift card"

Dear Parents to minimize COVID transmissions only two people per conference will be allowed in the building at one time. However, if you have more than one child who attends North Windham, they may accompany parents to the conference. All parents will be required to sign-in all attendees. Thank you for your cooperation!
