Dear Windham Families,
It is with great excitement that I welcome you to the 2025 - 2026 school year. Our first day of school is August 28th. This year’s theme, Weaving Our Future Together, reflects our commitment to honoring the rich history of the Windham community while drawing strength from working together toward a shared purpose: ensuring that every student in Windham feels a true sense of belonging, is guided toward continuous growth, and is expected to rise to rigorous academic and personal expectations, leaving our schools prepared to thrive in their continuous learning, career, and life. Just as the strands in our theme graphic connect every school in the district, our collective efforts with families, staff, students, and the community create a stronger fabric and foundation that supports the success of every student.
This Year’s Focus:
Our work this year will center on three priority areas that are essential to every student’s success:
Daily Attendance: Every day matters for learning. “Every Thread Counts - Be in School Every Day!”
Challenging and Supportive Instruction: All students will learn rigorous, grade-level, standards-driven content with the support they need to succeed.
Safe, Welcoming Schools: Every student will learn in an environment where they feel included, respected, challenged, and supported.
Celebrations:
We have much to celebrate!
Preliminary Performance Data shows a third year of academic improvement in all areas for the district!
We had successful summer programs for K-3, PK-12 ESY, and High School Credit Recovery.
Natchaug School has been named one of America’s Healthiest Schools for 2025! Natchaug School was awarded this honor specifically for their work with social emotional learning and family engagement. There were approximately 1,000 schools recognized this year across the nation, but Natchaug School was the only Connecticut school to earn the award.
Summer Happenings:
As we open the school year, I want to share some of the important work and changes that took place over the summer to prepare for our students’ and staff members’ return:
Our schools are ready! Custodians, facilities, and IT teams worked hard to prepare all buildings for the new school year. We are grateful for their dedication and their hard work over the summer!
The 5th Grade Wing at Windham Middle School is complete. Materials have been moved in, and our staff are ready to welcome our new fifth graders to WMS!
Windham Center School transition. The school has been cleared and is ready for turnover to the Town.
We extend heartfelt thanks to the Windham Center staff for their professionalism, dedication, and care during this transition. I am hopeful that the staff are settling into their new homes in our elementary and middle schools, keeping the fabric of our school community tightly woven. We wish each staff member the very best in this next chapter and are grateful for the hard work that made this transition possible.
We are ready for a wonderful year, and I look forward to working collaboratively to create the conditions for every student and educator to thrive. Thank you for your partnership in weaving a strong and bright future for Windham Public Schools!

Queridas familias de Windham,
Es con gran entusiasmo que les doy la bienvenida al año escolar 2025 - 2026. Nuestro primer día de clases será el 28 de agosto. El tema de este año, Tejiendo nuestro futuro juntos, refleja nuestro compromiso de honrar la historia de la comunidad de Windham mientras obtenemos fortaleza al trabajar unidos hacia un propósito en común: garantizar que cada estudiante en Windham sienta un verdadero sentido de pertenencia, sea guiado hacia un crecimiento continuo y sea retado a cumplir con altas expectativas académicas y personales, saliendo de nuestras escuelas preparado para prosperar en su aprendizaje continuo, su carrera y la vida. Así como los hilos en nuestro gráfico temático conectan a todas las escuelas del distrito, nuestros esfuerzos colectivos con las familias, el personal, los estudiantes y la comunidad crean un tejido y una base más fuertes que apoyan el éxito de cada estudiante.
Enfoque de este año:
Nuestro trabajo este año se centrará en tres áreas de prioridad que son esenciales para el éxito de cada estudiante:
Asistencia diaria: Cada día cuenta para el aprendizaje. “Cada hilo cuenta - ¡Esté presente en la escuela todos los días!”
Aprendizaje riguroso y con apoyo: Todos los estudiantes aprenderán contenido riguroso, alineado a los estándares de su grado, con el apoyo necesario para tener éxito.
Escuelas seguras y acogedoras: Cada estudiante aprenderá en un entorno donde se sienta incluido, respetado, retado intelectualmente y apoyado.

Los Datos de Desempeño Preliminares muestran un tercer año de mejora académica en todas las áreas del distrito.
Tuvimos programas de verano exitosos para K-3, PK-12 ESY y Recuperación de Créditos en la Escuela Secundaria.
¡La Escuela Natchaug ha sido nombrada una de las Escuelas Más Saludables de los Estados Unidos en 2025! Recibió este honor específicamente por su trabajo en aprendizaje socioemocional y participación familiar. Aproximadamente 1,000 escuelas en todo el país fueron reconocidas este año, pero Natchaug fue la única escuela en Connecticut en recibir el premio.
Acontecimientos del Verano:
Al iniciar este año escolar, quiero compartir algunos de los trabajos importantes y cambios que se realizaron durante el verano para estar preparados para el regreso de nuestros estudiantes y personal:
¡Nuestras escuelas están listas! Los equipos de conserjes, mantenimiento e informática trabajaron arduamente para preparar todos los edificios. ¡Estamos agradecidos por su dedicación y esfuerzo durante el verano!
El ala de quinto grado en la Escuela Intermedia Windham está completa. Los materiales ya se han trasladado y nuestro personal está listo para dar la bienvenida a los nuevos estudiantes de quinto grado.
Transición de la Escuela Windham Center. La escuela ha sido despejada y está lista para ser entregada al Municipio. Extendemos un sincero agradecimiento al personal de Windham Center por su profesionalismo, dedicación y cuidado durante esta transición. Espero que el personal se esté adaptando bien a sus nuevos hogares en nuestras escuelas primarias y secundarias, manteniendo el tejido de nuestra comunidad escolar entrelazado firmemente. Les deseamos lo mejor en este nuevo capítulo y estamos agradecidos por el arduo trabajo que hizo posible esta transición.
Estamos listos para un año estupendo y espero trabajar de manera colaborativa para crear las condiciones en las que cada estudiante y educador prospere. ¡Gracias por su apoyo en tejer un futuro fuerte y brillante para las Escuelas Públicas de Windham!
